Manchester's ground-breaking development in alcohol treatment

Alcohol Treatment Solutions (ATS), the MedTECH Centre Incubator’s latest new tenant, has created a completely unique way of treating people with alcohol difficulties, which boasts a 97 per cent success rate.  With an estimated 1.6 million people dependent on alcohol, ATS is set to transform lives across the UK.

ATS designs scientifically researched, bespoke treatment solutions as David Brough, director explains, “Existing treatment programmes, which involve medication, are not suitable for most people who are adversely affected by alcohol.  As professionals we know from experience that the mind leads the body; we deploy expert skills to help reset people’s mental compass.  This approach is a ground-breaking development in alcohol treatment.”

ATS treats the psychology so that people can lead a happier, more productive life without alcohol dependency.  ATS took residence in the MedTECH Centre Incubator earlier this year and considers the workspace an essential basis for its alcohol treatment programme.  Brough continues, “We have received significant encouragement and support from the team at the MedTECH Centre Incubator in a relatively short space of time.  Their advice on funding is invaluable, and we hope this will enable us to secure the investment needed to help ATS reach out even further to a group in society that is sadly overlooked.  The incubator environment is absolutely great; it’s really made a difference, and as a Manchester start-up, it’s the right place for ATS to be.”

Dr Paul Hanmer, managing director at the MedTECH Centre said, “As the first joint venture in the UK between the NHS and the private sector to stimulate the growth of successful healthcare technology companies, the MedTECH Centrehas helped Manchester foster an innovative spirit.  For entrepreneurs and start-up companies just like ATS looking to stimulate the growth of their innovations, we are the future of healthcare business incubation. ATS is our latest tenant, and it is driving complete change in alcohol treatment; our role is to provide guidance and support to help boost its success.”
