Another base for NHS Innovations NW

TRUSTECH launches new Merseyside office

TRUSTECH are excited to announce an agreement with Liverpool Science Park to open an office based on the park’s Innovation Centre 1 (ic1) site.

As part of the NHS, TRUSTECH – the North West NHS Innovation Service, will be looking to provide companies in the biomedical and healthcare industries a greater understanding of the needs of the NHS through a range of services. TRUSTECH applies its knowledge and expertise to provide a consultancy service to companies with innovative technologies and services that have the potential to improve patient care or increase efficiency in the NHS. This includes:

·         gathering clinical opinion from NHS experts and specialists

·         conducting market research such as online surveys, interviews & focus groups

·         clinical observations

·         identification of study sites for trials

·         NHS introductions

·         trial/project management

Liverpool Science Park (LSP) is a not-for-profit company owned by Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Liverpool and Liverpool City Council to provide flexible office and laboratory accommodation, R&D facilities and business support services to companies of all sizes looking to develop within Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. The park currently comprises 80,000 sq ft of commercial office and laboratory space split across two buildings - ic1 and ic2. However, an additional 42,000 sq ft of office, laboratory and write-up space is due to be made available shortly with the opening of an extended wing of ic1.

Particularly relevant to TRUSTECH’s new venture is the Biomedal Cluster office, which is supported by managers of the North West Fund for Biomedical SPARK Impact. The cluster offers desk space within an open plan office where residents can join a community of people with immediately relevant experience, enabling sharing of knowledge and advice to help each other progress along the innovation pathway.

Liverpool Science Park chief executive Chris Musson said: “It is fantastic to welcome such a forward thinking NHS body to the park which will provide a great healthcare resource not only to our innovative tenants but to the wider area.

“The work carried out by TRUSTECH to link pioneering SMEs to the NHS captures the essence of what the science park is all about- providing active links between SMEs and the universities and industry.”

These services are not limited to companies and businesses located on LSP. It is hoped that this new residency in the Merseyside area will enable more companies to access the services offered by TRUSTECH, which will help drive forward innovation in the NHS and the rest of the UK.

TRUSTECH also provides innovation services to NHS Trusts based in the North West region, helping NHS staff to develop and protect their ideas. For more details, please visit: www.trustech.org.uk.
